16 teams set to jostle for 2024 Judith Chime Championship title

16 teams have been confirmed for the 2024 Judith Chime Championship (JCC) taking place in Enugu.

Holders, Imo Striker Queens from Owerri, Imo state charge to retain the title will face oppositions from 15 other teams.

The runners up of the maiden edition in 2022 and defending champions will participate at the tournament alongside Giant Empress and host, Greenfoot Academy from Enugu.

2023 bronze medalist, Fortress Ladies (Benin City), Delta Babes, Castmog Academy (Abeokuta), and Salt Jewels (Ebonyi state) will also take part in the Championship.

One of the oldest women’s football teams from Northern part of Nigeria, Moje Queens from Kwara State which won the fair play award in 2022 are amongst the participants.

Others are Rising Star (Anambra), Zohar FC (Enugu), Disdevt in Afrik Jewels (Ebonyi), Golden Sun SC (Yenegoa), Bravehearts FC (Benin), Solo Wonders (Abia), GGTC (Ebonyi), and Immaculate Queens (Enugu) complete the line up.

The draw for the tournament will take place on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

Formerly the Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup (ICMC), Judith Chime Championship named after former Nigeria goalkeeper will take place from December 15 to 21.

This year’s competition is the third edition as Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens emerged as winners of the maiden edition in 2022.

Imo Striker Queens which finished second in 2022 won the last edition in 2023.
