By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Nigeria’s senior national team captain, Ahmed Musa has spoken on what lies ahead of Super Eagles’ next game with Sierra Leone on Sunday.
Nigeria and Sierra Leone will trade tackle in Monrovia in an AFCON Qualifiers in the race to qualify for the African Cup of Nations next year in Cote d’Ivoire.
The Super Eagles are top of their qualification group with nine points out of four matches, followed by Guinea Bissau’s Wild Dogs who have seven points.
A win over the Leone Stars will seal a place in Ivory Coast next year for the three times African champions which Musa believes is the team’s main target on Sunday.
“We know the expectation is to go there and win. If we win the game, we have qualified for the AFCON,” Musa told Brila FM.
“There is pressure for now. We are just going there to win and play the last game with fun.”
Leone Stars, which gave the Eagles a tough run in Abuja on the opening match of the qualification series before succumbing 2-1, are on five points in the group.
Sao Tome and Principe, who play the Super Eagles on the final day of the series in September, are bottom with only one point.
Nigeria and Sierra Leone clash at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia on Sunday, 18 June, as Sierra Leone does not have any stadium in their country approved for international matches.
