Spartak Moscow are reportedly exploring a potential move for Nigerian-descent striker German Onugha, currently on loan at Danish Superliga side Vejle from FC Copenhagen, as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
According to Metaratings.ru, the Russian giants have identified the 27-year-old as a viable addition to their frontline after his impressive form in Denmark.
Onugha has scored 33 goals in 69 league appearances for Vejle, underlining his consistency and eye for goal.
A graduate of the Krasnodar youth academy, Onugha is no stranger to Russian football. He previously featured in the Russian Premier League with Krylia Sovetov and Rubin Kazan during the 2021–2022 season before moving abroad.
Despite Spartak’s interest, the potential deal may be complicated by ongoing geopolitical and financial challenges. Sources suggest that international transfers involving Danish banks could face significant regulatory and transactional hurdles, possibly affecting negotiations.
Nonetheless, Onugha’s profile and prior experience in Russian football make him an attractive prospect for Spartak, who are seeking to revamp their squad following an underwhelming league campaign.
The coming weeks will be crucial as the club assesses the feasibility of a move amid the complex international climate.
