2023 AFCON Qualifiers: Victor Boniface, Gift Orban mark early arrivals in Uyo camp
By Saheed Afolabi
The duo of Victor Boniface and Gift Orban have arrived Nigeria for the 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe in Uyo.
Both players just earned their first call up to the Super Eagles and turned up as one of the first early arrivals in Uyo.
Boniface and Orban have been consistent in churning out great pero for their respective club sides and were rewarded with an invitation to the national team.
Bayer Leverkusen hitman, Boniface has taken the German Bundesliga by storm this season by netting four goals in three matches including three assists. The Nigerian striker scored what could likely be the goal of the season against Darmstadt by racing through on goal from his own half before firing into the back of the net.
Orban has took up from where he left last season as he threaded his way past opposing defenders to score two goals in four appearances.
The 21 year old was a toast of a host of top European clubs but a deal couldn’t materialize as he committed his future to Gent for another season.
The Super Eagles have called up a strong squad for their AFCON qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday 10 September.
Head coach, Jose Peseiro is leaving no stone unturned as he racks up his head for the best XI for the 2024 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
