The governor of Kayseri in Turkey has hosted the players of Kayseri Spur Women to celebrate their impressive campaign that secured promotion to the Turkish Women’s Super League.
During the reception, the governor commended the players for their unwavering commitment throughout the season and praised their collective effort in achieving promotion to the top tier of Turkish women’s football.
In a special moment during the event, the governor took a personal photograph with Nigerian forward Kafayat Bashiru after the team photo session, recognising her outstanding goal-scoring exploits during the campaign.
Bashiru enjoyed a remarkable season, finishing as the top scorer in the Turkish women’s second tier with 46 goals, a feat that played a crucial role in Kayseri Spur’s successful promotion push.
The Nigerian striker previously featured for Osun Babes and Remo Stars Ladies in the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership before making the move to Turkey.
