Nigeria’s captain, Ahmed Musa has aired his concern about the state of the pitch ahead of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone.
The Super Eagles could seal their qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire when they travel to the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia to play Sierra Leone on the 18th of June.
The game is scheduled to be played on the synthetic pitch of SKD Stadium as the Leone Stars currently lack a CAF-approved standard stadium.
When both teams met in the reverse fixture at Abuja last year, the Super Eagles had to come from a goal down to win 2-1 on the natural grass of the Moshoood Abiola Stadium.
Meanwhile, the team has been training on a synthetic surface of the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, ahead of the match.
However, the Sivasspor forward insisted that Nigeria may struggle in their penultimate game of the qualifiers due to the state of the pitch.
“What do we have to complain about? CAF has already approved the pitch, so we don’t have anything to say,” he told Pulse Sports Nigeria.
“We just have to go there to win the game, which is the most important thing. If CAF has already nominated the pitch, there’s nothing we can do.
“We the players just have to get used to it. This is Africa, we are no more playing in Europe where we have everything. But in Africa, it is very difficult. We all know the mentality, the difficulties that we have in Africa.”
