2023 NNL Super 8 MD1 Wrap: Pillars, Katsina, Sporting Lagos off winning starts

The 2023 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 get underway in Asaba with three wins and a draw from four opening games, including Kano Pillars and Sporting Lagos on Sunday.
William Sunday’s goal gave Kano Pillars a 1-0 win over EFCC FC in the first match of the day.
In the second match, former Remo Stars and Enyimba player Victor Mbaoma was the star as he lifted Katsina United to a 2-1 win against DMD FC.
Mbaoma scored two goals to lift his team to a hard-fought win.
Odafe Emmanuel scored the match-winner as Sporting Lagos edged FC ONE Rocket 1-0.
The last game of the day between Abeokuta Stormers and Heartland FC ended in a goalless draw.
Overall, Katsina United and Kano Pillars with three points apiece top the Northern Conference ahead of EFCC FC and DMD FC.
Sporting Lagos on the other hand top the Southern Conference with three points ahead of Abeokuta Stormers (1 point), Heartland FC (1 point), and FC ONE Rocket without any point.
