2023 Women’s Federation Cup wrap: Nasarawa, Rivers, Edo and Bayelsa reach semis

Nasarawa Amazons, Rivers Angels, Edo Queens and Bayelsa Queens are through to the semifinals of the 2023 Women’s Federation Cup following their respective quarterfinal victories on Thursday.
In Owerri, Edo Queens thrashed second-tier NWFL Championship side, Lakeside Queens 5-1.
Yetunde Fajobi, Godwin Eunice, and Emem Essien were on target as Moses Aduku’s side progressed in style.
Defending champions Bayelsa Queens thrashed NWFL Nationwide side, Fortress Ladies 9-0 in Calabar.
Goals from Glory Edet, Etim Edidiong, Salisu Anuoluwapo, and Chinyere Grace gave the Prosperity Girls a 4-0 lead at halftime.
At the restart, Edidiong completed her hat-trick with two more goals while Rita Peter bagged a brace and Salisu converted her second goal of the game to complete the rout.
The loss ended Fortress Ladies’ fairy tale run in the Federation Cup as the lowest team in terms of league cadre remaining in the competition bowed out.
At the Enyimba Stadium, all Nigerian Women’s Football League Premiership clash between Rivers Angels and Delta Queens ended in a goalless draw after regulation time in Aba.
However, the eight-time winners were the victors after a 3-1 shootout win over their rivals, who missing four times.
In Benin City, FC Robo Queens and Nasarawa Amazons ended in a 1-1 draw as a second-half own goal canceled out Favour Nkwocha’s opener for the Lagos Landladies at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
The Lafia ladies progressed after a 5-3 shoot-out triumph to see of the 2021 finalists.
The draw for the semi-final and fixtures will be announced by the Nigeria Football Federation in the coming days.
