Edo Queens forward, Emem Peace Essien is looking ahead of their semi final clash with TP Mazembe expecting a win to take the team into the final.

A win over the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) side will make Moses Aduku’s side the first Nigerian team to reach the final of the competition in Morocco.

Essien who won the Player of the match twice against Commerical Bank of Ethiopia FC and Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies during a stunning win over the two time champions is optimistic of winning the title.

“To go further. I am expecting myself in the final to play the host team,” Essien said during post match conference.

“First of all, I want to say thank God for everything. It’s been God and He made it possible. I am so happy for this victory.”

Essien and Mary Mamudu scored late goals to lift the Benin City based side to a 2-1 win over Sundowns Ladies, Nigeria’s teams first win over the South African side in the tournament to finish top of Group B with seven points.

“Like I keep telling my colleagues, South Africa is not up to the standard we are expecting. Even when they scored us, I am confident we will come back as I know that we will be victorious.

“My drive for this competition. I actually want to play my football naturally which I came here for,” she concluded.

Edo Queens will face TP Mazembe in the last four on Tuesday with a chance of reaching the final in their debut at the tournament.
