2024 WAFCONQ: Super Falcons land in Praia for Cape Verde clash

Nigeria’s senior women’s national team players have landed in Praia, Cape Verde ahead of Tuesday’s return leg of the final Qualifying Round for the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations.

On Saturday, 21 players arrived in Praia in preparation for the return leg clash after departing Abuja by 7am local time a long trip enroute Lagos-Abidjan, Dakar before landing in the Cape Verde capital at 9pm Nigerian time.

“We safely landed in Praia, Cape Verde 🇨🇻 this evening, ahead of our second leg tie on December 5.” the team wrote on Super Falcons X.

The nine-time African Champions are close to another WAFCON qualification after a comfortable 5-0 win over Cape Verde in the first leg in Abuja.

A brace each from Uchenna Kanu and substitute, Esther Okoronkwo on either side of Gift Monday’s strike ensured a win for Nigeria.

A win on aggregate on Tuesday will ensure Nigeria’s qualification for next year’s WAFCON in Morocco.

The West Africans has not failed to qualify for every edition of the WAFCON likewise the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

They will hope to return to Morocco where they finished fourth in their quest to reclaim the title and the country’s tenth trophy.
