2025/26 NWFL Premiership Season Kicks Off November 26

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The 2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Annual General Assembly (AGA) was held on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, bringing together key figures and stakeholders in women’s football across the country.

In attendance were Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Barr. Chris Green, and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, represented by board member Madam Aisha Falode, alongside club representatives, administrators, and members of the media — all united in their commitment to advancing women’s football in Nigeria.

One of the major outcomes of the Assembly was the official confirmation of the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership kick-off date, scheduled for November 26, 2025.

The new season will feature 20 teams, grouped into two groups of 10 each, with several exciting fixtures expected right from Matchday One.

Group A features defending champions Bayelsa Queens, alongside Edo Queens, Adamawa Queens, Pacesetter Queens, Heartland Queens, Ekiti Queens, Naija Ratels FC, Ibom Angels, Castmog Ladies, and Rivers Angels.

Group B is headlined by last season’s runners-up Nasarawa Amazons, who will battle Confluence Queens, Delta Queens, Sunshine Queens, Ahudiyannem Queens, Dannaz Ladies, Remo Stars Ladies, Osun Babes, Abia Angels, and FC Robo Queens.

The 2025/26 NWFL Premiership campaign will also see the introduction of three debutants — Ahudiyannem Queens, Castmog Ladies, and Pacesetter Queens — who earned promotion after impressive performances in the Championship playoffs.

The Assembly reaffirmed the league’s focus on professionalism, commercial growth, and player welfare as women’s football in Nigeria continues to gain momentum on and off the pitch.
