Galatasaray focus on containing ‘deadly’ Onuachu vs table-topper vs Trabzonspor
By Oluwadamilola Olaleye
Galatasaray are bracing for a stern test this weekend as they prepare to host Trabzonspor in a top-of-the-table Süper Lig clash, with particular attention on containing in-form Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu.
The towering 2.01-meter forward has been in scintillating form for Trabzonspor this season, and Galatasaray’s coaching staff are reportedly working meticulously on defensive strategies to neutralize his aerial dominance and physical presence in the box.
According to Ajansspor, Onuachu has been identified as a potential game-changer whose impact could be decisive, especially given Galatasaray’s current defensive concerns.
The absence of key defender Davinson Sánchez has amplified the need for tactical adjustments, while the availability of right-back Wilfried Singo is seen as vital to maintaining defensive balance.
Additionally, central defender Abdülkerim Bardakcı, standing at 1.85 meters, is expected to shoulder much of the responsibility in aerial duels against Onuachu.
The significant height difference between the two players has prompted the technical team to devise special measures aimed at mitigating set-piece and cross-related threats.
With Onuachu’s lethal form presenting a clear danger, Galatasaray’s preparations are focused on ensuring that the Nigerian striker does not dictate the tempo of what promises to be a high-stakes clash at the summit of the Süper Lig.
