Nigeria and Benin Republic are putting out a joint bid to host the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) and must outshine Zambia, Morocco, and Algeria in the bidding war to secure the hosting rights.
CAF inspectors appointed had arrived the country to assess the stadia and related facilities put forward in a joint bid with Benin Republic, were joined by the Director General, DSSC, Chief Chris Anazuih, and the Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, Chief Kenneth Nwaomucha as the team went around the facility.
“They have inspected and liked what they have seen apart from a few things that they want us to put in place for the hosting to go seamless,” Okowa told Brila FM.
” It’s to just reposition the media center and conference room to be close together. Every other thing they saw, we would put them in place. Those are the minor things they want us to put in place.”
Benin Republic are dropping two venues for Africa’s biggest football showpiece in Cotonou and Port Novo. Nigeria has six venues set aside for the tournament in Lagos, Benin City, Asaba, Abuja, Kaduna, and Uyo.
CAF would check various stadia expected to host the tournament and is expected to announce the host for the 2025 AFCON by the middle of April 2023.
