Since their silver medal finish at the 2023 Africa. Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote D’Ivoire earlier this year, Nigeria senior men’s national team is yet to record a competitive win.
With two friendly games and two matches, the Super Eagles has won one of their last four games after the last AFCON.
South Africa based defender, Olisa Ndah hopes the bad form of the team can stop when they meet Benin Republic in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers in Uyo on Saturday.
“I love to take my change but right now, I think we just focused on getting get to winning ways,” Ndah told NFF TV.
“To win on Saturday no matter who is starting or on the bench. I think the focus a nation as a unit is to be able to win the hame on Saturday and take it from there.”
The former Akwa United player is returning to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo where he played in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with the home team.
“I think it is a very exciting moment. I am happy to be here. I am grateful for this opportunity,” He continued.
“I know there are lots of great players that I am just happy to be in the team.”
Ndah is one of the few African based players in the current squad of Super Eagles alongside Chippa United goalie, Stanley Nwabali who is also based in South Africa.
“It is big for people playing in Africa. I think the level is improving in Africa. It is also an opportunity. You don’t really get this often. We take every chance as they come. I am really happy to be here.” He concluded.
A win over Benin Republic, a team the Super Eagles lost 2-1 to in their last match in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers will start their AFCON 2025 Qualifying campaign on a bright note.
