2025 AFCONQ: Super Eagles book ticket after Libya edge Rwanda

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria’s senior men’s national team have qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco ahead of their Matchday five clash with Benin Republic in Cote D’Ivoire on Thursday.

Libya’s 1-0 win against Rwanda in Kigali secured Super Eagles place at next year’s AFCON.

Fahd Saad Mohamed’s 84th-minute goal separated both sides to hand the North Africans their first win of the campaign.

With 10 points after four games, the three-time African champions can’t finish less than the second position depending on the result of their last two games against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

Benin Republic is in the second position in Group D with six points, while Rwanda amassed five points.

Libya is with four points after playing five games alongside Rwanda.

West African side Nigeria finished second at the last AFCON, losing the final to host Cote D’Ivoire in the final.

They hope to win their fourth title for the second time in North Africa after their second title was claimed in Tunisia in 1994.
