Nigeria international, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has been named among the nominees for the prestigious 2025 Ballon d’Or Yachine Trophy, awarded to the best goalkeeper in women’s football.

Nnadozie earned the nomination following her outstanding performances at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where she recorded four clean sheets and helped Nigeria secure their 10th continental title.

The 24-year-old also played a key role in Paris FC’s qualification for the UEFA Women’s Champions League, pulling off several crucial saves, including in penalty shootouts as well as winning the Coupe de France.

Her consistency and composure between the posts earned widespread recognition.

Ahead of the WAFCON, Nnadozie made a significant career move to the English Women’s Super League (WSL), signing for Brighton & Hove Albion after a stellar stint with Rivers Angels and Paris FC.

She will compete for the Yachine Trophy alongside:

Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany)

Cata Coll (Spain)

Hannah Hampton (England)

Daphne van Domselaar (Netherlands)

The Yachine Trophy is awarded annually by France Football as part of the Ballon d’Or awards to recognize the world’s best goalkeeper.

Nnadozie’s nomination marks another significant milestone in her rapidly rising career and highlights Nigeria’s growing impact on the global women’s football stage.
