2025 NBSL MD Four Preview: Kebbi Fishers Conclude Round One with an Unblemished Record

The inaugural round of the 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) concluded on Thursday with two matches held at Filin Sukuwa, Sani Abacha Bye Pass, Birnin Kebbi.

Match Summaries

In the opening match, Kebbi United BSC triumphed over Jigawa Golden Star BSC with a score of 6-4. Jigawa initially surged ahead with a 4-1 advantage, bolstered by three goals from Hamza Bagudu and one from Yusuf Kamilu. Kebbi United managed to score through Ibrahim Malami.

However, Jigawa Golden Star relinquished their three-goal lead during the second and third periods. Kebbi United’s comeback was fueled by Isyaku Atiku (two goals), Muniru Aliyu (two goals), and Zahara Black, securing their second victory of the tournament.

In another match, defending champions Kebbi Fishers BSC achieved their third consecutive win, defeating last season’s runners-up, Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors, 3-1. Taiwo Adams and Hassan Muhammed scored in the first and second periods, respectively, giving the home team a two-goal advantage. Emeka Ogbonna managed to score for the Nnewi-based team, but Hamza Manga quickly restored the two-goal lead right from the kick-off.

As a result, Kebbi Fishers lead Group A with a perfect nine points from three matches, five points ahead of Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors. Ibom BSC has accumulated three points, while Nmanko Patigi BSC remains without any points.

In Group B, the 2022 champions, Kada BSC, also hold a perfect record with nine points, three points clear of Kebbi United BSC. Jigawa Golden Star BSC has three points, while Niger BSC has yet to score.

The second round of the league is set to take place in Kaduna State in June 2025.
