2025 NBSL MD5 Wrap: Kebbi Fishers continue perfect start against Anambra BSW

Holders Kebbi Fishers BSC extended their unbeaten run to four matches after edging Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors (BSW) 6-5 on penalties, as Round Two of the 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) kicked off on Thursday in Nnewi, Anambra State.
The encounter at Moonshine Arena, Nnewi High School ended 4-4 after three periods and extra time. Stanley Ekwo struck twice for the hosts, with goalkeeper Chibuike Mbaraogu and Kennedy Obinna also on target.
Kebbi Fishers replied through Taiwo Adams, Hassan Muhammad, Ekene Obi, and Hassan Abdullahi before sealing victory in the shootout.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Anambra Beach Soccer Association, Prof. Victor Madubuko, officially declared the round open, welcoming teams and stakeholders to the state. He was later honoured with an Outstanding Contribution Award by the league in recognition of his leadership, innovation, and influence on the growth of beach soccer in Nigeria and across Africa.
Elsewhere, Jigawa Golden Star BSC and Ibom BSC both won 3-0 against Kebbi United BSC and Nmanko Patigi BSC respectively, while Kada BSC defeated Niger BSC by the same scoreline.
Meanwhile, the goalkeepers’ challenge also featured on the opening day, with six of the eight participants advancing to the next phase on Friday.
Round Two action continues on Friday with four fixtures as teams battle for playoff qualification.
