2025 President Federation Cup: Nasarawa Amazons edge Bayelsa Queens in Round of 16 clash

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Nasarawa Amazons pipped fellow Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, Bayelsa Queens, 2-1, booking a spot in the quarter-final of the 2025 President Federation Cup on Saturday.
The dress rehearsal for both sides meeting in the Super Six Playoffs lived up to expectations.
The Solid Babes had to come from behind to secure their place in the last eight after Alaba Obabiyi’s opener for the Prosperity Girls in the 23rd minute.
Ojiyovwi Kesiena equalized for the Lafia-based side in the 34th minute of play.
Amina Bello scored the match-winner for Christopher Danjuma’s side five minutes after the hour mark.
The result ended Bayelsa Queens coach, Ogbonda Whyte’s quest to retain the title.
Last season, he won the trophy as head coach of Rivers Angels against Naija Ratels FC in Lagos.
That was his first major title as a coach. He and his team will now focus on the Playoffs taking place in Ikenne.
