2025 Soccer Queens Awards celebrate excellence in Nigerian Women’s Football

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The 2025 edition of the Soccer Queens Awards was held on Saturday at the Media Centre of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Fourteen award categories were presented, recognising standout players and coaches across the three tiers of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).

In his welcome address, organiser Moses Bako Nagogo highlighted the vision behind the initiative.

“Tonight, we celebrate women who light up the football league across its three tiers — Premiership, Championship, and Nationwide. Their talents, dedication, and resilience remind us that the future of football is bright and female.

“When we launched the ceremony three years ago, our goal was simple — to shine a spotlight on athletes who give their all on the pitch, away from the limelight that follows the men’s game. Today, that future is thriving. Premiership stars inspire the next generation, Championship trailblazers break barriers, and Nationwide participants prove that talent can emerge from any corner of the country.”
