Sunshine Stars suffer armed robbery along Benin-Ore expressway

Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL side, Sunshine Stars have been reported to have suffered serious attack by suspected hoodlums along Benin-Ore Expressway on Thursday.
The Owena Whales were on their way to honor their Matchday 13 encounter Insurance FC in Benin at the weekend.
A statement release from the department of the Akure based club revealed that their Kit Manager suffered gun shot while several others suffered degrees of injuries.
“It saddens our hearts to inform Nigerians, especially football lovers that our team was attacked along Ore-Benin Expressway to honor an elite league tie, against Insurance of Benin, scheduled for this weekend,”
the statement read.
“Our ball boy was shot in the horrible attack. Our Team Manager and other club officials including players were seriously injured.
“It took the intervention of officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps that helped rescue the injured officials and the shot individual to a nearby hospital. We hope you join us in prayers.”
