2023 CAF Awards: Osimhen and Oshoala shine as Nigeria scoops four accolades

Behind Morocco’s five awards, Nigeria won four prizes at the 2023 CAF Awards in Morocco on Monday night.
Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen won the men’s player of the year prize ahead of Mohamed Salah (Egypt) and Achraf Hakimi (Morocco).
His compatriot, Asisat Oshoala won her sixth women’s Player of the Year award beating Thembi Kgathlana (South Africa) and Barbara Banda (Zambia) to the prize.
The courtury’s women’s national team emerged as the national team of the year in the women’s category.
Similarly, goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie won the first-ever women’s goalkeeper of the year award.
The Paris FC shot-stopper beat South African goalie, Andile Dlamini, and Moroccan save hands, Khadija Er-rmichi to the prize.
Nigeria failed to win the Young Player of the Year award in the women’s category.
Nesryne El Chad (Morocco) won the award ahead of Deborah Abiodun and Comfort Yeboah.
Overall, three Super Falcons players made the list of the first-ever CAF FIFPRO first XI, this include Michelle Alozie Osinachi Ohale and Asisat Oshoala.
The West African side smiled home as the second highest winners of the night.
