Davidson Owumi appeals to NFF to invite more NPFL players to the Super Eagles

Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Davidson Owumi has appealed to the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to invite more players to from the indigenous league to the Super Eagles.
His appeals come on the heels of Stanley Nwabali’s expliots at the Africa Cup of Nations, where he kept four cleans sheets in six matches, including two Player of the Matches.
To this end, the NPFL scribe asked the NFF to make it mandatory for the Nigeria topflight league players to be included on the Eagles team list in their games, stressing that there are quality players in the domestic league.
“I am appealing to Nigeria Football Federation to consider making it mandatory for the inclusion of more than three players in every Super Eagles’ invitations in other to unearth more talents and give the domestic players hope of playing for the national without going abroad,” Owumi was quoted by Complete Sports.
“We have quality players that are waiting for just the opportunity to break into Super Eagles.
“The only way for them is for national team selectors to keep on inviting them to fight for places with their overseas-based counterparts.
‘That Nwabali became number one in just one year after leaving NPFL is a testament that we have plenty of his kind in the league.”
