Head coach of Nigeria, Randy Waldrum says his team needs to be more efficient and clinical in front of goal after a 1-0 win on aggregate over Cameroon in the third round of Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers.

The Super Falcons were able to score a goal after two games in Douala and Abuja respecting despite creating goal-scoring chances and Waldrum feels that he would have been more worried if the team didn’t create chances.

“In both matches, I think we had many opportunities to finish it off and not make it difficult at the end,” Waldrum told pressmen after the match in Abuja.

“That’s where we have to get better. Away we had two breakaways. We scored two goals. After I watched the videos they both should have stood. Here today you can go back and look at the opportunities we had.

“We could have finished the game off at halftime. We have to be more efficient and clinical around the goal.

“It is always a concern. I would be more concerned if we didn’t create those chances. If we didn’t create those chances I would have had great concerns. I think we need a tight match like this at any level.

“Chances were created between Chelsea and Liverpool and were not finished. It ends up in a 1-0 game.”

The former African champions will likely face current African champions, South Africa in the fourth and final round of the qualifiers.

Banyana Banyana beat Tanzania 3-0 away from home in the first leg of their third-round clash.

“We just have to review videos of what we have seen against South Africa or whoever. We will have to prepare based on what we see on video.” He concluded.
