NPFL: Nduka Junior craves Remo Stars triumph over Sporting Lagos in title push

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Remo Stars captain, Nduka Junior says it could be difficult to beat Sporting Lagos at home in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter on Sunday.

Daniel Ogunmodede’s side had beaten the Lagos-based side in the reverse fixture of the same showdown as the Sky Blue Stars want to win the NPFL title after finishing third and second respectively in the last two seasons.

Nduka said the team will do everything possible to get at least a point in Lagos.

“It’s a derby game and we defeated them on our home ground,” Nduka told Brila FM.

“We all know that it is not going to be easy. This is the second round and They will definitely want to reciprocate. Definitely, they will want to come out and give us a good fight, but in all, they [fans] should expect positive results from the players on Sunday.

“We know how important the game is to beat Sporting Lagos in their backyard on Sunday. We are aware of where we are on the log. For us to be a contender, we must win the game. Anything short of that is not too good for us.

“We definitely want to win the game and come to our home ground on Wednesday to make sure we consolidate on the result.”

Remo Stars occupy the fourth position on the table with 39 points after 22 games, with an outstanding match with Rivers United.

Lobi Stars (42 points), Plateau United (41 points), and Enugu Rangers (40 points) ate above the Ikenne-based side.
