2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup: Flamingos to know foes on Saturday

Nigeria’s U-17 girls will get to know their opponents at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup when the draw for the tournament takes place on Saturday, June 22, 2024, by 10:30 pm Nigerian time.

The draw will be conducted at the Frey Antón de Montecinos monument, a historic landmark situated next to the Colonial City area of the Dominican capital with 16 teams going into the lot.

The 16 participating teams will be Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, England, Japan, Kenya, Korea DPR, Korean Republic, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Poland, Spain, the United States of America (USA,) and Zambia.

Teams will be drawn into four groups of four with the top two countries from each group making it to the quarter-final.

Nigeria which finished third in 2022 has been pitted in pot three ahead of the draw alongside Colombia, England, and Zambia.

The host Dominican Republic is in pot one with holders Spain, Japan, and Korea DPR as Brazil, the United States of America (USA), Mexico, and New Zealand are in pot two.

Kenya, Korea Republic, Poland, and Ecuador are in pot four.

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2024 will be held in the Dominican Republic from October 16 to November 3.
