Alex Iwobi names Jay-Jay Okocha in his perfect midfield build-up

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has named his maternal uncle, Austine Jay-Jay Okocha, in his perfect midfield build-up.

The Super Eagles star was tasked by ESPN to build the ultimate midfielder and picked one of the qualities of his uncle for the task.

Okocha, known for his mouthwatering dribbling skills, was a key player in Nigeria’s golden generation squad that won the AFCON in 1994 and the historic Atlanta 1996 Olympics gold medal.

The former PSG star was also instrumental in Nigeria’s silver and two bronze medals at AFCON 2000, 2002, and 2004, respectively.

However, Okocha was not the only player Iwobi selected when building his perfect midfielder.

Iwobi picked Frank Lampard’s finishing, the passing prowess of Mesut Ozil, whom he played with during his time at Arsenal, the work rate of the hardworking N’Golo Kante, the technique of former Italy midfield maestro Andrea Pirlo, and the football IQ of Brazilian legend Kaka.
