NPFL confirm kickoff date, Matchday One fixture for 2024/25 season

The 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season is set to kick off on August 31, 2024, as confirmed by Nigeriafootball.ng.
This announcement came during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the league held in Abuja on Tuesday.
Initially proposed by the league’s board, the start date had raised feasibility concerns.
However, following deliberations at the AGM, all stakeholders have agreed to diligently work towards making this start date a reality.
The opening match of the season will feature reigning champions Enugu Rangers facing off against President Federation Cup winners El Kanemi Warriors on August 31st in Enugu.
The league body and club owners have also agreed that the remaining Matchday One fixtures will take place a week later.
Here are the confirmed Matchday One fixtures:
- Abia Warriors vs Remo Stars
- Beyond Limits vs Enyimba FC
- Enugu Rangers vs El Kanemi Warriors
- Lobi Stars vs Akwa United
- Kwara United vs Niger Tornadoes
- Bendel Insurance vs Rivers United
- Kano Pillars vs Ikorodu City
- Sunshine Stars vs Bayelsa United
- Nasarawa United vs Shooting Stars
- Plateau United vs Katsina United
