“It’s Like a Win for Us”- Magin reflects on Niger Tornadoes’ draw against Enyimba

Niger Tornadoes’ Technical Adviser, Mohammed Magin, has expressed satisfaction with his side’s 1-1 draw against Enyimba FC, describing the result as a significant achievement for his team.
The Ikon Allah Boys secured a crucial point in their Matchday Six encounter of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba on Wednesday. Despite Enyimba’s dominance, Niger Tornadoes held firm and earned a hard-fought draw.
Joseph Godstime put the visitors ahead in the 44th minute, capitalizing on a precise pass from Papa Daniel. Godstime showed his strength and composure as he powered past several Enyimba defenders before unleashing a thunderous strike that found the back of the net.
The visitors came close to doubling their lead in the second half when Godstime’s curling shot narrowly missed the target. However, Enyimba equalized in the 76th minute, when substitute Chinedu Ufere scored from a goalmouth scramble following a corner kick.
Despite intense pressure from the home side as they searched for a late winner, Niger Tornadoes’ resilient defense held firm, ensuring they left Aba with a valuable point.
Magin praised his players for their composure in the face of Enyimba’s late surge, emphasizing that the result was a testament to their hard work and preparation.
“It is not always easy playing against a team of Enyimba’s calibre, especially with experienced players and a professional manager,” Magin said. “They are the only Nigerian team still competing in continental competitions, so we knew what we were up against. That’s why we prepared adequately for the game. I’m not surprised by the result—in fact, it feels like a win for us.”
Looking ahead, Magin expressed optimism that his team could replicate this performance when they host Rivers United in their next NPFL fixture on Sunday.
“I’ll continue to appeal to the home fans to remain calm and patient with the boys. We will keep working hard to break our home drought,” he added. “The officiating has improved greatly, and this will help the growth of the league to a great extent.”
Niger Tornadoes will be aiming to secure their first home win of the season when they face Rivers United on Sunday in a crucial Matchday Seven clash.
