NPFL: Katsina United silence Enyimba, as Remo Stars stay top seeing off Kwara United

By Dayo Awoniyi

Katsina United secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Enyimba International in a thrilling encounter on match day 25 of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season in Katsina on Wednesday.

Bello Lukman was the hero for the home side, scoring a brace in the 40th and 52nd minutes.

Despite a late consolation goal from Enyimba’s Ekene Awazie in injury time, it wasn’t enough to stop Katsina United from claiming all three points.

Meanwhile, Remo Stars maintained their dominance at the top of the NPFL table, following a convincing 2-0 win over Kwara United.

The victory propelled them to 51 points, maintaining a 10-point lead over second-place Shooting Stars, who have 41 points.

The match saw Samuel Anakwe break the deadlock in the 79th minute with a header from Nduka Junior’s free-kick, which was spilled by the Kwara United goalkeeper.

Haruna Hadi wrapped up the win for Remo Stars in the 94th minute, poking home a rebound after Ibrahim Shuaib’s shot was parried by the goalkeeper.

With Remo Stars continuing their impressive form, they remain the team to beat in the NPFL, while Katsina United’s win keeps them in the hunt for a strong finish this season.
