Kano Pillars beat Rivers to push NPFL title in Remo Stars favour

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Kano Pillars defeated Rivers United 2-0 on Friday, broadening the NPFL title race and ending Rivers’ chance to win the league.

Ahmed Musa and Rabiu Ali scored for Pillars, dealing a heavy blow to Rivers United’s championship hopes.

This result makes the final matches more exciting. If Remo Stars beat Niger Tornadoes on Sunday, they will be crowned 2024/25 NPFL champions.

Remo Stars now face the pressure to win and take the title.

They lead the table with 65 points, seven ahead of Rivers United, which still has four games remaining.

Kano Pillars climbed to sixth place with 50 points after playing 35 matches.
