Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), Hajji Gafar Liameed, has commended the Super Falcons following their 1-0 victory over Botswana, which secured the team a place in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Liameed, who was in attendance at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, praised the team’s resilience and described the win as a major step toward reclaiming the continental title.

“The Super Falcons are on course for Mission X,” he said, referencing the team’s ambition to win a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.

The LSFA chairman expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to go all the way, applauding the players, technical crew, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their dedication to excellence.

“The NFF has been outstanding in promoting women’s football. The progress is evident, and we are proud of what the Super Falcons have achieved so far,” he added.

Liameed emphasized the broader impact of the team’s success, calling it a source of inspiration for young girls aspiring to become professional footballers in Lagos and across Nigeria.

“The Super Falcons’ achievements serve as motivation for the next generation. At LSFA, we are committed to supporting the growth of women’s football in the state and nationwide,” he said.

As the Falcons prepare for their quarter-final clash, Liameed urged the team to stay focused and continue their strong run.

“The road ahead won’t be easy, but we believe in their ability to overcome any challenge. We will stand by them every step of the way,” he affirmed.

Liameed’s remarks reflect the LSFA’s ongoing commitment to supporting women’s football and underscore the growing national pride in the Super Falcons’ WAFCON campaign.
