Ibrahim Gusau commends progress on NFF/FIFA Players’ Hostel project

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), has commended the ongoing progress on the NFF/FIFA Players’ Hostel and Training Pitches Project, praising the construction team for their dedication and quality of work.

The project, officially commissioned on March 18, 2025, has seen substantial development under the leadership of Architect Gambo Ahmadu, who heads a team of carefully selected contractors.

“I am happy with the pace of the work, the seriousness shown so far by the contractors, and the quality of the work as seen so far,” Gusau stated.

“They have a 24-month mandate to deliver, and at the pace they are going, they should be able to complete the Players’ Hostel and the Training Pitches on or before that timeline.

“This is a legacy project for the current NFF administration, and it is very close to our hearts. I am also pleased that the project is located close to the NFF office, which allows myself, the Executive Committee, and NFF staff to regularly monitor the progress.”

During the inspection tour, Gusau and his team visited the site of the new training pitches, the old training pitch—slated for extensive renovation—and the two-story Players’ Hostel.

The hostel will feature office and conference spaces on the ground floor, while the upper floors will accommodate players and officials.

“We need a detailed report of what has been done so far, including photographs, so we can send an update to FIFA,” Gusau instructed Architect Ahmadu.

Gusau concluded by reiterating his satisfaction with the current state of the project and voiced his confidence in the contractors’ ability to deliver within the agreed 24-month timeframe.
