Nigeria’s national women’s football teams — the Super Falcons and the Flamingos — have both been nominated for the 2025 CAF Women’s National Team of the Year award.

The Super Falcons earned their place on the shortlist after clinching the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco, their record-extending 10th continental crown.

The victory reaffirmed Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football, coming just months after their return to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games — their first appearance in 16 years.

Meanwhile, the Flamingos, Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, received recognition following their successful qualification for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which will also take place in Morocco later this month.

Both teams are among 10 nominees for the prestigious continental honour. The full list includes:

Cameroon U-17

Côte d’Ivoire U-17

Ghana

Mali

Morocco

South Africa

Tanzania

Zambia U-17

Nigeria’s Super Falcons

The CAF Awards 2025 will celebrate the best performers across African football, highlighting the success and growth of women’s football on the continent.
