Montage FM 99.7 Launches Maiden Community Cup to Unite FCT Youth Through Football

In a bold initiative aimed at fostering unity, promoting grassroots football, and empowering young talents across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Montage FM 99.7 Abuja has announced the commencement of the Maiden Montage Community Cup.

Themed “Empowering Youth, Uniting Communities Through Football,” the tournament is designed to serve as a platform for discovering raw football talent, encouraging physical fitness and discipline, and reducing youth restiveness within FCT communities.

According to the organizers, the competition will officially kick off on November 18, 2025, featuring 24 teams drawn from the six Area Councils — with four teams representing each council. The grand finale is scheduled for December 7, 2025, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, where the top four teams will compete for glory and a share of the ₦2 million cash prize, alongside other rewards.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, Tournament Coordinator, Mr. Raphael Ekpang, described the event as a strategic step toward using sports as a unifying and developmental tool across the FCT.

“I am honored to announce the upcoming Montage FCT Community Football Tournament — a dynamic grassroots competition that promises to unite communities and discover hidden talents across the six Area Councils,” Ekpang said.

“This tournament is more than just football; it is a celebration of community spirit and youth empowerment. Our long-term goal is to expand into other sports such as basketball and athletics in future editions.”

Ekpang also revealed that registration and sensitization campaigns are already underway across the councils, urging interested teams and individuals to participate.

He expressed appreciation to the sponsors and partners who have aligned with Montage FM 99.7’s vision of promoting sports development and community engagement.

“We are grateful for the support of our sponsors and partners who share our vision of using sports as a catalyst for peace, unity, and youth development. We also call on other organizations and well-meaning individuals to join this noble cause,” he added.

The organizers reiterated that the Montage Community Football Tournament reflects Montage FM 99.7’s ongoing commitment to community service, peacebuilding, and youth inclusion — positioning the station as a driving force for positive change and social impact across the FCT.
