The Houston Dash have traded defender Michelle Alozie to Chicago Stars FC in exchange for $40,000 in allocation money, with both clubs confirming the deal on Tuesday.
Alozie joined the Dash in 2021 as a national team replacement player before earning a full contract later that season.
She went on to establish herself as a key squad member, signing a contract extension after the 2024 campaign. Across all competitions, the defender registered seven goals and two assists, making 80 appearances and 37 starts for the club.
During her time in Houston, Alozie played a role in the Dash’s qualification for the 2022 NWSL postseason, starting the quarterfinal clash against the Kansas City Current at Shell Energy Stadium.
On the international stage, Alozie is a prominent member of the Nigeria Women’s National Team. She earned her first senior cap for the Super Falcons in Houston in June 2021 and scored her maiden international goal at Shell Energy Stadium later that summer.
She helped Nigeria qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup where the team reached the Round of 16.
A member of Super Falcons squad at Paris 2024 Olympics, Alozie also won the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with Nigeria earlier this year.
