The Nigeria’s senior men’s national team have successfully secured a doubling of their qualification bonus from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after reaching the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco according to SCORENigeria.
The NFF had initially proposed a bonus of $15,000 per player should Nigeria advance to the knockout stages of the tournament.
However, as first reported by SCORENigeria, the players rejected the offer and demanded an improved figure of $30,000 each.
Following negotiations, the federation has now agreed to the players’ demands.
“They have agreed to pay what the players want,” a source disclosed.
It has also been confirmed that bonuses for the later stages of the competition have been fully agreed between the NFF and the team, removing any potential distractions as the Super Eagles push for continental glory.
Reacting light-heartedly to the development, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau joked that “the players are swimming in dollars.”
With financial matters settled, attention now turns fully to the pitch as Nigeria aim to extend their strong run and challenge for a fourth AFCON title.
