Hassan Suleiman: Chelsea appoints Nigerian coach as new U18 handler

English side Chelsea has announced a Nigerian, Hassan Suleiman as their head coach for the U18 team.

Chelsea confirmed Suleiman’s appointment on the club’s official website on Friday following the departure of Ed Brand who was formerly in charge of the youth team.

The Nigerian trainer who holds a UEFA A coaching license has held several roles at Chelsea was until his latest appointment the head coach of the U16 team.

He expressed delight on his new assignment which he described as an opportunity to further impact on the young footballers to become better persons and great players in the future.

“I am delighted to take on this new role and this is an opportunity that I am really looking forward to.

“I want to thank the leadership team for having the confidence in me to continue the success of the Academy.

“My passion is to help players become better people and better footballers, ultimately maximising their potential.”

Sulaiman has also handled the Chelsea U14s side captained by Chinonso Chibueze to win the PL-ISL Next Generation Mumbai Cup in February 2020.

He was also part of the technical crew that guided Chelsea U16 to win the annual Premier League tournament in 2021.
