Ishaq Rafiu reacts after inspiring Maribor to Europa Conference League playoffs

Nigeria forward, Ishaq Kayode Rafiu has expressed his delight after he helped his Slovenian club NK Maribor to qualify for the Europa Conference League playoff.

Having finished third in the Slovenian topflight, Maribor earned their European spot with 62 points from 36 games despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Bravo in their final game of the season on Sunday.

The 21-year-old talisman joined the top-tier side from Nigerian side Rivers United, whom he helped to win the Premier Football League (NPFL) title last season with 14 goals to his name.

Moving to Europe, Rafiu has played a total of seven matches for the Slovenian outfit across all competitions while still trying to settle into his new environment.

Reacting to his debut season end, the Nigerian took to his official Twitter page to celebrate his campaign in Europe.

“First season in Europe done and dusted. Looking forward to another great season.

“Not an easy one for me but I’m excited it ended well as we qualified for the Europa Conference League playoff.”
