Remo Stars experienced defender, Ifeanyi Anaemena has set his sights on the CAF Champions League after his side missed out on the Nigeria Premier Football League title by superior goal difference.
The Sky Blue Stars defeated Bendel Insurance 1-0 to win their last game of the season in the NPFL Super Six playoffs championship but the win was not enough to gift them the league diadem as they settled for second best team.
Tthe former Enyimba defender admitted his sadness on their narrowly lost league diadem, while backing the Sky Blues Stars management to strengthen the club ahead of their continental engagement which will start in August.
“The game was good, and we are happy with the result,” Anaemena told The Athletic NG.
“We all had the desire to win the league title, but in the end, we fell short of our main goal. As we enter the continental stage, I expect our management to strengthen the team.”
Remo Stars made their debut at the CAF Continental stage last year as they lost out in the first round to Moroccan side AS FAR 2-1 on aggregate.
