By Wale Mustapha
The Nigeria National League, (NNL) has handed a fine of One Million Naira (#1 million) on Joy Cometh for staging a walk out during their last match of season against Ijebu United on Thursday.
The NNL board also placed a four match ban on both the General Manager and Head Coach of Joy Cometh, Messrs Segun Ajiroba and Jide Oguntuase for their unruly act during the match.
The decision was made following the report from match officials who handled the match that was decided at Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode where Joy Cometh protested against a goal they considered as offside and refused to continue the match.
Ijebu United were already leading the match with 2-0 with two minutes to see out the game and expected added time was fixed for three minutes by match officials.
The NNL ruled that the action of Joy Cometh was seen as a deliberate, capable of bringing the game to disrepute.
Ijebu United were however declared winner of the match with three points and three goals awarded to them.
Unfortunately, it was not enough for the home team to secure promotion playoff ticket from the Group B2 as Sporting Lagos finished above them with superior goal difference.
