By Monsurah Olatunji

The Nigeria senior women’s national team will open a training camp in Abuja on June 29 in preparation for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, says the Nigeria Football Federation.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria are in Group B with co-hosts—Australia, Olympic champions— Canada, and debutants — the Republic of Ireland.
According to NFF spokesman, Ademola Olajire, Coach Randy Waldrum’s tutored side are being primed to be in their best possible condition for the World Cup as they begin camping at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
“The FIFA Women’s World Cup will kick off next month and the Nigerian team will start their final preparation on June 29.
“There will be a final send-forth dinner for them on July 1 before they travel on July 2. They will also have a 15-day final camping program in Australia before the tournament starts.”
The tournament which is starting from 20 July to 20 August 2023, is the first to be co-hosted by two countries and feature 32 teams and also the first senior World Cup to be held across multiple confederations.
The nine-time African champions’ first match will be against Canada on July 21 before they face Australia on July 27 and end their group matches against the Republic of Ireland on July 31.
