Nigeria star Asisat Oshoala canvasses for fans support ahead of Women’s World Cup

Nigeria forward Asisat Oshoala has urged teeming Nigeria fans to support the Super Falcons at this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The nine-time African champions will face Canada, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland in Group B at this year’s global showpiece and following her unveiling as MultiChoice Nigeria brand ambassador, the Barcelona star appealed to Nigerians to give their utmost support to the country’s women’s national team.
“I am urging you all to please support the Super Falcons at the World Cup,” said Oshoala during her unveiling.
“When I was younger, I don’t even get the opportunity to watch certain games to be honest. Maybe just one.
“I never even see like women’s soccer games on television, but today, the Women’s World Cup is around the corner, I am very happy and hopeful and I know that for sure 1001 percent, Multichoice are going to put these games on television for everyone to see.
“Not just in Africa but across the world because I know that they are going to show other games as well. At the end of the day, this an organization that doesn’t just focus on a particular place but spread all over Africa and the world as well. This is what this partnership is about. It’s going to be a great partnership.”
The partnership with Oshoala is part of the DSTV ‘Here For Her’ campaign for the showpiece following her many exploits with Barcelona, winning the 2023 UEFA Women’s Champions League and the Spanish league title.
The former Arsenal and Liverpool star has enjoyed a scintillating career with lots of trophies and awards to her name and won the African Women’s Footballer of the Year award five times, surpassing the record of Perpetua Nkwocha.
