CAF confirms date for 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League

The Confederations of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the date for the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League which will be hosted by Ivory Coast.
The biggest women’s interclub championship which will see eight teams participate will take place between November 5 and 19, 2023, serving as a test tournament for next year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) which the country will also hosts.
The 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League is the third edition of the only African women’s inter-club competition which was birthed in 2021.
Six regional champions from West Africa (WAFU-A and WAFU-B), Southern Africa (COSAFA), Eastern Africa (CECAFA), North Africa (UNAF), and Central Africa (UNIFFAC) will be joined by a team from the host country, Ivory Coast and holders, ASFAR FC of Morocco.
The journey for this year’s tournament will start on August 5 with the WAFU-A Zonal qualifiers in Monrovia, Liberia.
Nigerian champions, Delta Queens will host the WAFU-B Qualifiers in Benin City, the capital of Edo State from August 18 to 31, hoping to join the likes of Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens in qualifying for the tournament.
The winners of the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League will smile home with a sum of 400,000 US Dollars while the runners-up and third-placed winners will earn 250,000 and 200,000 US Dollars respectively.
Mamelodi Sundowns and ASFAR FC won the first two editions of the tournament previously hosted in Egypt 2021 and Morocco 2022.
