Bayer Leverkusen has revealed the reasons for signing Victor Boniface from Union St Gilloise.
Boniface completed his move to Leverkusen after completing his medicals over the weekend in Germany.
The Die Schwarzroten (The Black and Reds) confessed to having Boniface on their radar for a long time and attributed their interest to him through his direct duel, physicality, pace and technicality.
The German side are optimistic, the 22 year old forward will add more quality to their squad and give them more options.
“Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed Nigerian Victor Boniface from top Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise,” the club wrote on its website.
“The 22-year-old signed a contract with the Bundesliga club that runs until 30 June 2028 and will wear the number 22 shirt.
“We’ve had Victor Boniface on our radar for a long time. His performance in a direct duel then absolutely confirmed our positive assessment.
“Victor is a very present centre forward who is difficult to play and who poses a challenge for every defender just because of his physicality.
“In addition, he is also fast and technically adept and with him, we have a strong but still viable and flexible striker in our ranks for the long term.
“He will help us to improve the quality of our squad in the multitude of games in the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Europa League.”
Boniface scored 15 goals in 47 appearances in7 all competitions last season for Union St Gilloise as he racked up nine assists.
