Head Coach of Nigeria senior men’s national football team, Jose Peseiro is not a happy man even after guiding the country to their first friendly victory with 3-2 win over Mozambique on Monday.
The Super Eagles have since tasted victory in an international friendly match as far back as in 2019 as they have played 15 matches without recording a win with eight of ended in defeats with seven draw.
Goals from Terem Moffi, Frank Onyeka and Moses Simon saw Super Eagles claimed the comeback win with Mozambique goals coming from Catamo and Bangal.
Peseiro who was relieved that the team have finally record a win in a friendly match, has reservations with his approach which he expect them to improve on.
“It is a good thing to win a friendly match after 15 matches, its really a long time, eight defeats and seven draws, I think its good for us and the country,” the Portuguese tactician told media.
“But I am not happy with the performance, especially in the second half, the attitude is not good, we didn’t much as expected and its not okay to play like that as this level.
“We created many chances, we should have scored up to four, five, six goals in the second half, a player and keeper in many situations should result to a goal but the players were to relax.
“You don’t relax with two goal lead, when you have the chance, you score more, I told them, the win is good but the attitude not good enough.”
When asked about his team’s recent scoring prowess that has seen them scoring 10 goals in three matches including the last three against the Mambas, Peseiro acknowledged the good effort of the team but demanded for more.
“Like I said, I’m happy with the progress made with our scoring ability, but this match (against Mozambique) we should be able to score more.
“We were not composed today, like against Saudi Arabia, we were calm and composed but today, no we didn’t. I’m happy we won after a long time, but I’m not satisfied with the performance.”
