Nigeria striker Junior Ajayi showcased his goal-scoring prowess with a stellar performance, netting two goals in Al Ahly’s resounding 5-2 triumph against Al Mokawloon Al Arab in the Egyptian top flight on Monday. The victory solidified Al Ahly’s dominant position in the league, maintaining their lead with 60 points.
The encounter kicked off with Wahid Azarou putting Al Ahly in the lead with a seventh-minute goal, setting the stage for a dynamic display. Ajayi doubled the advantage in the 16th minute, displaying clinical finishing and contributing significantly to Al Ahly’s commanding position.
As the first half drew to a close, Mohamed Farouk managed to pull a goal back for Al Mokawloon Al Arab, narrowing the deficit to 2-1. The competitive spirit continued into the second half, with Ahmed Ali leveling the score at 2-2 in the 55th minute.
In the 84th minute, Ajayi once again found the back of the net, securing his second goal of the match and reinstating Al Ahly’s lead at 3-2. Islam Mohareb added a fourth goal in the 90th minute, emphasizing Al Ahly’s attacking prowess. The victory was sealed in the 94th minute when Azarou scored his second goal, concluding the match with a convincing 5-2 scoreline.
Ajayi’s standout performance elevated his goal tally to seven in 19 league appearances for Al Ahly this season. With this victory, Al Ahly remains at the summit of the league table, showcasing their dominance with an impressive 60 points.
