CAF Confederations Cup: Uyo is a fortress to Rivers United – Stanley Eguma
By Saheed Afolabi
Rivers United technical adviser, Stanley Eguma depicts Uyo as a fortress for the country’s sole surviving CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
The Pride of Port-Harcourt were in outstanding form as they thrashed Academica do Lobito 3-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo which isn’t their playground in the domestic league.
Following the comprehensive triumph, Eguma insists Rivers United can excel anywhere in Nigeria.
“Uyo is Nigeria and Port-Harcourt is also Nigeria and we are a Nigerian team,” Eguma told media.
“So we play anywhere, we have even left Nigeria to play in Benin Republic in the past, though everyone must have their fortress and our home is Port-Harcourt but now that the conditions don’t allow us to play there, we can play anywhere, so it’s Nigeria.”
Rivers United go top of their group in the CAF Confederations Cup following their impressive win against Academica do Lobito at the Nest of Champions.
The Pride of Rivers will trade tackles with Ghanian side, Dreams on Sunday, December 3 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Accra
