Abdu Maikaba in high demand following Kano Pillars exit

By Wale Mustapha

Veteran Nigerian coach Abdu Maikaba is attracting interest from several clubs in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and Nigeria National League (NNL).

Maikaba is currently a free agent after leaving Kano Pillars at the end of the recently concluded NPFL season.

Clubs such as Insurance FC, Katsina United, and Remo Stars are keen on securing Maikaba’s services. Reports indicate that both Katsina United and Bendel Insurance have inquired about the coach’s availability.

Katsina United is in need of a new manager following the resignation of Abubakar Bala, while Remo Stars are considering adding the experienced tactician to their coaching staff.

Additionally, Wikki Tourists, a club in the Nigeria National League, is also interested in Maikaba’s expertise. The 59-year-old previously managed the Bauchi Elephant in 2016 and has a rich coaching history, having worked with Akwa United, Plateau United, and Enugu Rangers.

Maikaba’s accolades include winning the President Federation Cup (formerly known as the Aiteo Cup) with Akwa United in 2017 and leading Plateau United to the NPFL title in 2020.

His extensive experience and successful track record make him a sought-after candidate in the Nigerian football landscape.
