Head Coach of relegated Sporting Lagos, Abdullahi Biffo, has expressed his disappointment following the club’s unfortunate drop from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Biffo witnessed his side lose 1-0 to Shooting Stars on Sunday in Ibadan, a defeat that confirmed their relegation to the lower division of the Nigerian league.
The former Kwara United manager stated that the club gave their all throughout the season and noted that their presence and energy will be greatly missed in the league.
“It’s what it is. I always believe that in the game of football, you either get it right or get it wrong. The only thing I know for sure is that the NPFL will miss the quality of Sporting Lagos in the league because their structure as a professional team is what we need to build our league,” Biffo said in a post-match interview.
“The team has a good structure, they know what they are doing. It is their first time in the league, and this will be a big lesson for all the management, players, and coaching crew,” he added.
Sporting Lagos ended their debut season in the top flight in 17th position. Other clubs relegated from the NPFL include Gombe United, Heartland, and Doma United.
